25/06/2010 - New Arrivals To The SECL

After tonights' AGM, the SECL are delighted to welcome 5 new teams for next season after a very favourable vote by the member clubs.

Carstairs, EK Claremont Free Church, Fullarton (Irvine), Glasgow Elim and Machan Utd (Larkhall) will be joining our 3rd Division for Season 2010-11 after very impressive applications and interviews with the Committee.

We extend a warm welcome to all 5 teams and wish them well for the coming season.

On a sadder note, it is with regret we announce the departure of 5 teams.  Findlaydale, EK Claremont and Westwoodhill have resigned after long associations with the League while Erskine Bridge and Victoria Croftfoot leave but will continue to play football in other Leagues.  We wish them all well in the future.

21/06/2010 - League AGM

Just a quick reminder to all that the AGM will be held at St. Silas Church on Thursday 24th June with a 7pm start.

See you all on Thursday.

15/10/2009 - Sattha International Football Team - looking for players!

Information Leaflet (pdf format)

The Sattha Football Outreach brings together an International traveling squad to build bridges for the Gospel in Thai communities. Sattha means 'Faith' in the Thai language. They are currently looking for new players for the tour in 2010.

The ministry is God Centred, using football as a tool. We complete with community and school teams, even finding opportunities to teach English. We partner with the Thai Church as they prayerfully seek to advance the Gospel in their communities using the beautiful game as a bridge.

A young man from Scotland, who took part in the tour in 2009, shared the following, "At the end of June I was asked to join team Sattha, which is an international football outreach team that travels throughout Central Thailand for 3 weeks, playing football and sharing the gospel. Sattha means faith in Thai and team Sattha was started 12 years ago as means to share the gospel with the men of Central Thailand and help to build bridges with communities and the local churches.

"I joined team Sattha from the 2nd to the 22nd of July. I was very excited to be involved in a team that combined football and ministry but I did find the high temperatures difficult to cope with.

"However, it was not all about football or winning games as after the games the team would give out literature, share testimonies and perform skits. We also visited local schools and two youth prisons where we taught English and played games.

"The highlight of the tour was the visits to the youth prisons because we had great opportunities to share. Many of the kids were in there because they had done some very bad things, but they were very receptive to the literature. Please do pray for the people that we have been in contact with.

"If you or anyone you know loves God and football please ask them to get in contact as team Sattha will need players for next years tour!"

Please publicise the Sattha football tour by printing out the information leaflet and sharing it with your Churches League teammates, church, youth group, Christian Union, Christian friends, etc and anyone who likes football and who may be interested in joining the tour for 2010.

If you are interested in joining the tour, or you would like to find out more or ask some questions, please contact Will Brooks.

29/05/2009 - Fraser Trophy Final

The Fraser Trophy is to be played on 30th May at Petershill Park, the home of Petershill Juniors.  Kick-off will be 9.30am.

The two teams competing in the Final are Carluke - newly crowned Division 1 Champions - and Greenbank BB - runners up in Division 1.  It should be a cracker and all are welcome.

19/09/2008 - Lennox Dumbarton in Europe!!

Lennox Dumbarton had the pleasure (or certainly the privilege anyway) of a fantastic pre-season friendly against a professional oufit.  While on a pre-season tour in Austria Dumbarton Lennox found themselves training next to the £40 Million plus rated Al-Jazira from UAE who finished 2nd in their domestic league last season.

Both teams decided on a quick bounce game and, although Lennox may have been completely outclassed by their professional opponents, they thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

The story was covered in the local press:
